Cub Scouts

What We Offer

“In scouting, a boy is encouraged to educate himself instead of being instructed.” -Sir Robert Baden-Powell, founder of scouting

Cub Scout Pack 46 received their charter from Boy Scouts of America in 1981, 35 years ago. The charter is held by Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Cub Scouts are boys who are in 1st through 5th grades. Being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do.  It’s all about the boy you are and the person you will become.  The Scout Law is: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.  In our meetings we instill the scout law in all we do.

The Cub Scout Pack meets monthly. The boys also meet by school age group or Dens twice a month. 1st graders are Tigers, 2nd graders are Wolfs, 3rd graders are Bears, and 4th and 5th graders are Webelos (We’ll Be Loyal Scouts).  Each den has an age appropriate schedule and requirements. The pack as a whole has two outdoor campouts each year, holds a pinewood derby and volunteers in some activity in the community such as yard cleanup at Holy Spirit, bus stop cleaning, bagging food for the homeless and Salvation Army bell ringing. Summer Camp is the highlight of the year. Two summer camps are offered to our Scouts, Belzer Day Camp last 1 week and is a day camp. Adventure Camp is a 4-day/3-night overnight camp that offers the boys a chance to get into a tent and have adventures.

There are currently 25 boys registered in our Pack. Parent volunteers spend about an hour a week working on meetings and planning for activities the boys will engage during the month. A yearly fee is charged that includes Boy Scouts of America dues, campouts, awards and race equipment such as derby cars, boats and spaceships. Scholarship applications are available through Boy Scouts of America.

Popcorn Sales is a source of revenue for our operations and often pays the full amount for a boy to attend camp for a week. We will be selling popcorn at one of the Masses during Popcorn Season.  Please look for a scout you can support during our September 17 through October 23 popcorn sales period. You can make a donation to Pack 46 if you choose not to purchase popcorn.
